Black Myth Wukong Missables: A 100% Spoiler-Free Guide
Black Myth: Wukong Missables – The Ultimate Spoiler-Free Guide
Nothing is more frustrating in an Action RPG than finishing a massive zone, only to realize you accidentally locked yourself out of a unique item, a powerful spirit, or a secret boss. You want a guide, but you absolutely hate spoilers.
Black Myth: Wukong is packed with hidden mechanics. Defeating certain bosses too early acts as an invisible trigger that permanently deletes NPCs or side bosses from your current playthrough.
To help you get 100% completion on your first run without ruining the surprises, I’ve put together this detailed, boss-name-free guide. You will know exactly what to look out for based on clear physical descriptions.
Chapter 1: The Big-Headed Forest Spirit
Early in the forest, you will stumble into a large clearing and find a massive, big-headed wandering spirit. He hits extremely hard for an early-game enemy, making it very tempting to bypass him and say, "I'll come back when I'm stronger."
- The Trap: Hidden around this forest are three large bells. If you ring all three bells, you will unlock a secret boss. If you defeat that secret boss before killing the big-headed spirit, the big-headed spirit will vanish from the game forever.
- The Solution: Face your fears. Defeat the big-headed spirit before you ring the final bell.
Chapter 2: Kill Orders and Exhausting Dialogue
1. The Rat Father and Son
Near a cliffside, you will engage in a 2-on-1 fight against a massive rat (the son) and a smaller, cowardly rat throwing things at you (the father).
- The Trap: Instinct tells you to kill the massive, aggressive son first to make the fight easier. Do not do this. * The Solution: Lock onto the smaller father rat and relentlessly hunt him down first. You must kill the father while the son is still alive. If you do, you will receive a unique Spirit upon finishing the fight. If you kill the son first, you get nothing.
2. The Horse-Headed NPC
Starting at the end of Chapter 1, you will meet an NPC with the head of a horse. He moves to a new location in every single chapter.
- The Trap: If you proceed to the next chapter without finishing his dialogue in the current one, his questline breaks entirely.
- The Solution: Whenever you find him, keep pressing the talk button until he starts repeating the exact same sentence (exhausting the dialogue). Do this in every chapter before moving on.
Chapter 3: The Prison of Red Eyes
1. The Lantern Wardens
Early in Chapter 3, you fall into a massive pagoda prison. Every few minutes, a siren sounds, your screen turns gray, and your maximum health is temporarily reduced.
- The Trap: While this gray state is active, special red-eyed lantern enemies spawn around the prison. There are exactly 9 of them. If you climb to the very top of the prison and defeat the boss waiting there, the gray state mechanic is permanently disabled, and the lantern enemies disappear forever.
- The Solution: Hunt down and kill all 9 lantern enemies before opening the boss door at the top of the pagoda. (Hint: Look for ledges to drop down to find the hidden ones). Doing so rewards you with a powerful Curio.
2. The Coastline Bat
After sliding down a giant turtle's back, you land on a vast snowy coastline. During this segment, you will be accompanied by your pig companion.
- The Trap: If you push the main story path too far, your companion will leave your side. There is a specific trigger point on the coastline (near giant snake bones) that only activates a secret fight if the pig is with you.
- The Solution: Explore the coastline thoroughly to the right before pushing forward into the main temples.
Chapter 4: Broken Arms and Secret Areas
Chapter 4 is the easiest place to permanently miss highly valuable items.
1. The Daoist with Four Arms (First Encounter)
In a cave filled with webs and cocoons, you will fight a Daoist enemy who has four extra insect-like arms on his back.
- The Trap: If you melt his health bar too fast and kill him normally, you lose out on a unique piece of armor.
- The Solution: You must break all four arms off his back during the fight. Wait until he exposes his back, use heavy attacks, or stagger him. Once all four arms are visually broken off, you can finish him to get the armor piece.
2. The Drunk Scorpion and the Yellow-Robed Daoist
If you unlock the secret area in Chapter 4 (Purple Cloud Mountain), you will find two specific NPCs: a scorpion monster drinking on a roof, and a man in yellow robes asking for help.
- The Trap: The final boss of this secret area is a massive flying creature. If you trigger and defeat this final boss, both the scorpion and the yellow-robed man will disappear from the map instantly.
- The Solution: Complete the yellow-robed man's questline, and antagonize/defeat the drunk scorpion before walking into the final boss arena.
The Golden Rule for Explorers
In Black Myth: Wukong, the cardinal rule of exploration is simple: If an area looks like an arena for a main boss, turn around. Check your corners, hit suspicious walls, and exhaust all NPC dialogue. The game rewards patience and punishes rushing!
